Dear friends,
The 8-minute TEDx Talk I gave a few weeks ago has just been released:
Free Yourself When Conflict Resolution Fails
I tell the story of how I freed myself from a deeply personal conflict with my mom using 3 of the practices I’ve taught Columbia students and senior organizational leaders for a decade, which I describe in my book, Optimal Outcomes: Free Yourself from Conflict (to be published by Harper Business in Spring 2020).
In 8 minutes, you’ll learn how to identify and break the pattern of any conflict:
– Map out the conflict: View the situation from a different perspective to find new levers for change
– Honor your shadow values: Acknowledge what you really care about, even if you’re not proud of it, that nonetheless drives your behavior
– Listen to your emotions: Notice what you’re feeling, and instead of reacting the same way you always do, ask what constructive, pattern-breaking action you can take instead
After I gave the talk in NYC, many people rushed up to tell me their stories– some who had already broken free from a conflict, and others who were still stuck but feeling much more hopeful. I look forward to hearing your story too.
My mission is to help leaders around the world learn to break free from the conflict habits and patterns that hold them back, even when other people don’t cooperate.
Please watch and help spread the word: Free Yourself When Conflict Resolution Fails
In freedom,
Jen
